ScreenToast / Features / AI voiceover
Narration for your screen recording, drafted for you.
Most screen recorders that offer an AI voiceover still hand you an empty box and ask you to write the script. ScreenToast drafts it for you: it reads what happened in your recording — the clicks, the app switches, the shortcuts — and writes narration that follows along. You edit the words, then have them spoken in an AI voice or record them yourself.
Record and edit free, no sign-in. Pro from $4.92/month when you export.
How it works
- Record your demo silently. Just do the thing you're showing; no need to talk while you click.
- Pick a style. Product demo, launch clip, tutorial, pitch or social. The same recording gets different words around the same actions — a launch clip ends on a call to action, a tutorial teaches the steps.
- Read the draft. Each line is pinned to the moment it describes. It's plain text, so rewrite anything before a single word is spoken.
- Give it a voice. Choose a built-in Mac voice, an ElevenLabs AI voice, or record your own over the timeline. The lines never talk over each other.
What you need for the voice: nothing, to start — the voices built into macOS are free and work offline. For more lifelike AI voices, ScreenToast uses ElevenLabs with your own API key, added once in Settings. ScreenToast doesn't resell voices, so you pay ElevenLabs only for what you use, and they have a free plan to start on.
Drafting the script needs no key and no internet: it runs entirely on your Mac.
What leaves your Mac — and what doesn't
- The draft is written on your Mac from the recording's own timeline of actions. No AI service sees your screen.
- When you choose an ElevenLabs voice, only the text you approved goes to ElevenLabs, which sends back audio. Your video is never part of it.
- Your API key sits in your Mac's Keychain and talks to ElevenLabs directly. It never reaches us.
Prefer your own voice?
Record it straight onto the timeline. ScreenToast cleans up room hiss so a laptop mic stops sounding like a laptop mic, and the music quietens itself underneath whenever you're speaking. Your voice, the app's sound and the music stay on separate tracks, so you can level each one on its own.
Good for
- Product Hunt and launch videos where you'd rather not hear your own voice.
- Feature announcements you need to ship today, not after a recording session.
- Tutorials where the steps matter more than the delivery.
- Non-native speakers who want clean English narration over their demo.
Let the script write itself.
